The 2012
Adirondack FreeStyle Symposium will again be on scenic Wolf pond in Ray
Brook New York, July 08-13.
Accommodations are in cabins at Sherwood Forest Motor Lodge, with
camping available in Meadowbrook DEC Campground just across NY Rt 86.

The Symposium
has expanded to six days to allow participants to explore the High Peaks
area and take organized group paddles in the area.
Mornings are
dedicated to Solo coursework, the traditional FS 1-5 plus new courses on
Transverse Paddling and High Kneel Thrusts.
Tandem
coursework occurs in afternoons to allow solo paddlers to experience
FreeStyle’s duality.
Special Topics
also offered in the afternoons, include Paddling the Inside Circle, Sit
& Switch Touring, The Giant Slalom Course, Canadian Style Solo,
FreeStyle Creek Running and One on One Tune-Ups with the Instructor of
your choice.
The expanded
format allows paddlers to pick and choose.
No-one need attend all four days. Opt for the day long Fish Creek
paddle with the renowned Guide Griz Caudle or spend a day hiking,
golfing, shopping or site seeing in the High Peaks and still take a full
FS course load. The
Symposium is a more relaxed, family vacation opportunity.
Guided Trips
include Chubb River and the Fish Creek Ponds area.
Meals will be
continental; Breakfasts, Lunches and Dinners served in our community
tent, or paddlers may cook in their cabin or campsite.
Dinner is provided Sunday evening, 10 July, and through the week
excepting Thursday evening’s Dutch Treat at Lisa G’s in Lake Placid
after our Interpretive Exhibition on Mirror Lake.
A last continental breakfast
sends all on their way Friday morning, July 13.
Reservations
for cabins at Sherwood Forest may be made by calling Larry Peryea at
518-891-4400. There
are one and two bedroom cabins; some cabins have kitchen facilities, a
few have fireplaces. Prices
vary, averaging $35-40/ head.
Sherwood’s cabin fees include use of Wolf Pond.
Mention AdkFS2 for special rates.

Pricing is $18/ head but significantly less convenient for
comfort breaks and an additional fee is required for the use of Wolf
Pond for those staying off Sherwood Forest property.
2012 is a
relaxing FreeStyle Symposium with more paddler and non-paddler options.

Adirondack FreeStyle Symposium
Some of the first ACA canoe symposiums were originally held on small lakes in the Adirondacks
Wolfe pond, is nestled in the high peaks region offering spectacular views.
The Lake Placid venue offers more than just paddling, especially for non-paddling friends or family.
Hiking, shopping, dining, and exploring Olympic venues are some of the area things to do.
