2012 FreeStyle Events

Events are open to anyone who is interested in FreeStyle Canoeing - solo or tandem.

The Level I Class is an introduction to FreeStyle and a Flatwater paddling skills review. This class is recommended for paddlers who have never tried FreeStyle paddling, and even for experienced paddlers, as efficient FreeStyle maneuvers begin with technically precise forward, reverse, correction, and/or sweep strokes. Learn FreeStyle concepts and terminology, and fine tune your existing skills.  You will get a solid foundation for FreeStyle paddling and begin your first FreeStyle maneuvers.

Canoes, paddles and life jackets can be rented on a limited basis.  Classes range in size from one to six students per instructor.  Most events offer a separate children's class if you and your kids are a canoeing family!

Contact the event host for more information.  (see Contact Us page)

What is a FreeStyle Symposium ?

a gathering of canoeing enthusiasts - novice, experienced, instructors, and non-paddling spouses or friends - participating in events which include solo or tandem canoe instruction, canoeing 'chalk talks' and informal educational sessions, socialization, good food, comfortable accommodations, and experiences of a lifetime
